How Our Provider Network Works
Request an estimate
Who You Talk To
You talk to an independent plumbing, drain or sewer provider in our network. These are separate local businesses. Actbackground Plumbing makes the introduction. The provider does the work and sets the price.
What Happens After You Reach Out
You share the basics: what happened, where in the house, and whether water is still running. A provider that serves your area then follows up. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability varies. Request a callback to check provider availability if the situation is urgent.
While you wait, do these steps:
- Shut off the main water valve if a pipe is leaking
- Turn off power to wet areas only if you can reach the panel safely
- Stop using any drain that is backing up
Do not:
- Mix drain chemicals, which can release harmful fumes
- Stand in standing water near outlets or appliances
- Dig around a suspected sewer line yourself
What to Ask a Plumber
Good questions protect your wallet and your house. Try these:
- Are you licensed and insured for this work in my area?
- What do you think caused the problem?
- Will you give me a written quote before work begins?
- What could change the price once the work is open?
- Is a permit needed, and who handles it?
- What happens if the same problem returns?
For drains, ask whether a camera inspection makes sense. For sewer work, ask about repair versus replacement, and ask for the options in writing.
You Are in Control
You can say no. You can ask for time to read a quote. You can ask a second provider for another opinion when the job is large and the situation is stable.
A clear written quote should name the work, the materials and the total. If a provider will not put it in writing, that is a signal to pause. Get it in writing.
Keep photos of the damage and every receipt. Some policies may cover sudden damage, so check your policy. Providers can often help document damage for a claim.
